That's a bit of a shock but quite funny. No wonder he left my mother. Thank you very much for translating the certificate for me and thank you also for the address I can write to and hopefully get a death certificate for him. I have done a DNA test but it didn't give me any French family. Apparently the French aren't allowed to do the DNA tests, or so I have been told. I think it would be quite on the cards after two other marriages there would be French half siblings. Andre's life is definitely interesting Lynette Davidson nee Andrews le lundi 09 août 2021 - Demander un contact Recherche sur cette contribution Réponse : French are not allowed to do DNA test, but they do it regardless. Generaly they use myheritage. If your result are otherwhere, you can upload your result on this site free

Thank you very much for the very interesting article on my father Andre. It is nice to know a little about him. Do you have a photo of him and do you know if he married again. I have not had the certificates you sent me translated into English yet - my computer won't translate certificates. On your records you show his death as 1987 but on Ancestry it is shown as 1974. I don't have a death certificate for him so don't know which is correct. Do you have an address that I could send his Royal Navy War record to or an email address? I am very appreciative of you letting me have the information. Lynette Davidson nee Andrews le lundi 09 août 2021 - Demander un contact Recherche sur cette contribution Réponse : He was first married at Deville lès Rouen, 24 may 1940, with Yvonne Marcelle Albertine PIGEON and divorced with this woman the 18 July 1951.
So if he married Dorothy Blanche HARRIS in 1941, he was bigame.
He was married again with Georgette RENOIR at Montrouge (near Paris) 2 or 9 janvier 1957 (I read deuf and 2 is deux and 9 is neuf)
You could ask to Montdidier for his dead certificate for 2 jun 1974

English translation :
André Aubry's application for admission to the Free French Association after WWII gives some indication of his background. (See the document below, kept by the Fondation de la France libre)
He joined the French Navy for five years on 29 October 1935.
From 10 January 1938 to 10 April 1940 he was on board the Rigault de Genouilly. This colonial aviso operated in the Far East.
André Aubry served in the Royal Navy from 20 June 1940 to 20 May 1943, but we do not know at present under what circumstances he joined the British Navy.
He joined the FNFL (Free French Navy) on 21 May 1943. But he obviously did not return to France to do so, as the country was occupied by the Germans.
From May 1943 to March 1944, he sailed on the Free French corvette Renoncule. He was then assigned to the minesweepers and then to the Bir-Hakeim barracks in Portsmouth.
He was demobilised on 27 September 1945.
In June 1946 he was a fitter and lived at 42 rue Gabriel Péri in Montrouge (Seine).
I would be very interested in André Aubry's British Navy war record.

I was the eldest child of John Andrews & Dorothy Blanche Andrews nee Harris, they were married in 1941 in the registry office at Portsmouth, UK when Andre Julien Maurice Aubry was serving in the British Navy in ww2 under the alias John Andrews. John Andrews left my mother and went back to France to join the Free French. I was taken from my mother at 4 yrs old by Dr. Barnardo Homes and sent to Australia at 8 yrs old. I would dearly love to have any information about Andre (John Andrews) as I know nothing apart from the information on this site. I would also love to see a photo of him to know what he looked like.
