"...The walk was intended to finish early that day because a visit to the Chateau du Bourblanc near Plourivo was included on the way back. Mme Martine Philipott met us and showed the party her beautiful home. There was no point in going in as the chateau had been almost destroyed by fire in 1990 and was still in the process of being renovated. Then the group drove into Plourivo to pay their respects to the Comtesse Roberta 'Betty' de Mauduit, the Scottish born American wife of Comte Henry de Mauduit who owned the chateau during the war when it was used as a safe house until Betty herself was arrested 12 June 1943. Betty was sent to Ravensbruck concentration camp but she survived the war and died in 1975. The party visited her grave at Plourivo to lay an ELMS cross and hold a minute's silence...."
