Breiz Izel My father, Sgt John DH Carleton (mid-upper gunner, RAF)was on the Breiz-Izel on 22 January 1944. His bomber Stirling EE905 was shot down on 31 July 1943 near Givet, France. He spent 6 months with many Belgian and French Resistance helpers, and successfully evaded capture, arriving back in Falmouth England on 23 January 1944. If it wasn't for the bravery of the many resistance helpers such as Captain Cloarec, my father would never have arrived home. I am very keen to discover more about this dangerous sea voyage, and about my father's time in Douarnenez while he waited for the trip (1 month).
sincerely
