At H.M.S. Collingwood, UK. In 1946 Georges was a much loved fellow Naval Officer, at a Royal Naval shore station near Portsmouth UK. studying 'Radar.' He was also "magnifique" on the tennis court. We went to Wimbledon to see a French tennis player when the tournament started again after the war. The expedition was arranged of course, by Georges.
Georges also joined me, one weekend,in a long bicycle ride across southern England to stay a night with my parents near Gloucester.
Of course we learned about the occasion before the war when Geoges and his brother stayed with family friends in the New Forest and were allowed to act as ball boys on the tennis court. As they had been 'good boys' they were permitted, afterwards, to try to play a game as a reward and astonished their English hosts by defeating them.
Also there, was a Naval Nursing Sister, Jocelyn Godfrey, who I later married. We are now both about 90 yars old.
