Really good example of this artists work.Lucette de la Fougere was a Council Member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, a Member of the Society of British Artists, a member of the Free Painters and Sculptors.She worked with Sir George Pollock, Robert de Quin , Horne Shepherd and several other influential artists of the 1960s. She was also a member of The National Society, as well as a full member of the Royal Society and the Artists of Chelsea, one of the oldest members clubs in London, founded by Whistler and his bohemian Chelsea friends in 1891.
Although from a French family she was born in London in 1921 and exhibited at the Royal Academy and had a solo show at the Mall Galleries, London. Her lover, the Breton painter Leopold Pascal started his career in Paris and then settled in Chelsea after the war.this painting was painted in the 1950s.Her paintings are quite intimate in nature in a sensitive impressionist or sometimes quite modernist style that beautifully capture the mood of the moment.
